Zimmerman Criticizes President Barack Obama

Two years after a jury acquitted neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman, of killing Trayvon Marton, Zimmerman says he bears a grudge against President Barack Obama. Zimmerman is accusing the President of inflaming racial tensions around the case.

Zimmerman levels those allegations against President Obama in video posted on his new attorneys’ website. Mark O’Mara, who represented Zimmerman during the 2013 trial, is no longer his attorney.

Zimmerman, who is now 31, said he shot Martin, who was unarmed,  in self-defense during a confrontation in Sanford, Florida. But critics allege the death was spurred by racial profiling.

In the video, Zimmerman says the President stoked tensions surrounding the case. He points to Mr. Obama’s statement, “If I had a son, he would look like Trayvon” as proof.

Zimmerman says in the video: “To me, that was clearly a dereliction of duty, pitting Americans against each other solely based on race.” Zimmerman makes the statement in the conversation with his lawyer Howard Iken, who does not appear on camera.
