Unemployment Hits Seven-Year Low

Solid job growth is adding a bit of spring flair to the United States economy. Along with warmer temperatures and flowering trees, the season is improving the economy. There was an increase of 223,000 jobs in April, an encouraging uptick after disappointing numbers in March.

Economic growth during the springtime is becoming a trend. Last year job growth slowed in the winter months but regained momentum as the year moved into spring.

“They are good numbers,” says Kate Warne, investment strategist at Edward Jones. “It’s reassuring that we saw job growth rebound to above 200,000.”

And, there is more good news. The unemployment rate dropped to 5.4%, its lowest mark since May 2008 which is expected to provide a campaign boost for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Many believe she needs the economy to keep growing until Election Day in order for her to win the presidency.

Americans still want better wages. And, economists say there are finally signs that wages are increasing as well. The experts indicate that as long as unemployment remains low pay will most likely to continue to increase.
