News of a closed door meeting between President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is making headlines in Washington, D.C.

According to a White House statement, the President and the presumed front runner for the Democratic Party’s 2016 nomination met to discuss “a range of topics.”

“President Obama and Secretary Clinton enjoy catching-up in person when their schedules permit,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in the written statement.

The last time the pair met at the White House was in early December, when officials similarly described a wide-ranging discussion.

President Obama’s official schedule did not announce the meeting before it occurred, and the hour-long meeting was closed to reporters.

Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill deferred to the White House comment on Monday’s Obama-Clinton meeting.

There is still no word on when Clinton will announce her much-anticipated decision to run for the White House. She has been criticized recently for using only her private email address which is linked to a server she owns while working as the nation’s top diplomat.
