A 57 year-old Michigan man wiped tears from his eyes as he described how police beat him in a video that is being watched around the nation. The beating was captured by the dashboard camera in the officer’s car and shows two officers beating Floyd Dent repeatedly. They also tasered him.

The Police Chief in Inkster, Michigan where the beating occurred has ordered an investigation. The Michigan State Police is also conducting an independent investigation. And the former police chief who resigned last summer wants the department to be dissolved.

Dent, a longtime auto worker with no criminal history, recalled the beating which happened during a traffic stop on January 28. Community leaders and city officials say they are pursuing justice and unity in the wake of the community outrage over the video.
