To Vaccinate or Not?

The latest health controversy is brewing around childhood vaccinations. A measles outbreak linked to Disneyland seems to have re-ignited the issue of vaccinations. Parents are even being joined in the debate by possible presidential contenders. Republicans Chris Christie and Rand Paul have indicated they support parents who decide not to vaccinate, but the presumed Democratic front runner, Hillary Clinton, tweeted strong support for vaccinating children.

Where do American parents stand on the matter? Recent polling data from the Pew Research Center  show that 68% of adults say childhood vaccinations should be required while three in 10 say that decision should be up to parents. As for a partisan perspective on vaccinations, the research shows that 76% of Democrats, 65% of Republicans and 65% of independents favor requiring vaccinations.
