He’s Fast, Too?

Actor Idris Elba seems quite good at most everything he does. Recently, Elba drove a Bentley Continental GT Speed, breaking a speed record on a beach in Wales. The record is known as the “flying mile.”
What exactly is that? The flying mile is measured by a car’s speed and is timed between two points 1 mile apart. The last flying mile record in the U.K. was set in  1927 by motor-racing journalist Sir Malcolm Campbell, who clocked in at 174.2 mph in a Napier-Campbell Blue Bird race car.
Elba reportedly averaged 180.4 mph and maxed out at 186.4 mph. Thinking of trying this feat at home? Here’s a heads up…the Bentley has a 626-horsepower engine that reaches a maximum speed of 206 mph. We just thought we should let you know.
The race and the backstory will be featured in July on the Discovery Channel.
