Filmmaker and Others Arrested on Six-month Anniversary

The Ferguson police arrested a small group of protesters gathering at the police department to mark the six-month anniversary of Michael Brown’s death. Brown, an unarmed African American teenager, was shot and killed by a Ferguson police officer on August 9, 2014. The shooting sent in motion months of protests focused on police brutality.

Among the group that hoped to pay homage was filmmaker Chris Phillips. In an interview with SSN-TV, Phillips described what happened. To hear his story, click here.

In November a grand jury declined to indict the officer who shot and killed Brown. An investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice is still ongoing.
