ESPN Sports Host Speaks Up for GOP

The Republican Party is on the mind of ESPN host Stephen S. Smith. Smith says if every African American voted Republican for one election a strong message would be sent to the GOP about the importance of their vote.

Smith appeared at Vanderbilt University recently where he said, “What I dream is that for one election, just one, every black person in America voted Republican.”

He continued, “Black folks in America are telling one party, ‘We don’t give a damn about.'” “They’re telling the other party, ‘You’ve got our vote.’ Therefore, you have labeled yourself ‘disenfranchised’ because one party knows they’ve go you under their thumb, the other party knows they’ll never get you and nobody comes to address your interest[s].”

Smith’s used shopping as an analogy for voting. He compared voting to “shopping around” as a way of encouraging businesses to work for your shopping dollars.

During the 2012 presidential election, 93 percent of black voters supported president Barack Obama for the White House.
